RE: College football - week 13

Wow, what a day of college football, Oklahoma proved what a great team they were, Florida clobbered powerhouse Citadel, Notre Dame sank even lower by loosing to lowly Syracuse and Charlie Weis had taken charge of calling the offensive plays, Cincinnati, coached by Brian Kelly takes control of the Big east by beating Pitt, and Penn State is without a doubt the best of the Big Ten and is now off to the Rose Bowl to play the PAC 10 champ. In the bowl series, I'll be rooting for all the Big 10 teams, Ciccinnati, Pitt, and West "By God" Virginia! The icing on the cake yesterday was Ohio State doing a beat down on Michigan. That one was personal and always will be! Chuck/Bagman.

RE: The Ohio State University Smacks Down Meechigan!

Yes, it was definitely a glorious day! Yesterday at breakfast a Michigan fan told me that I can't be an Ohio State fan because I didn't attend OSU. So I told her that I was born in Ohio, was an Ohio resident for 23 years, and graduated from Toldeo U. (team that beat U. of M.) and that should quality me as a "Buckeye" fan! So I asked her if she attended Michigan and she said no, but my two daughters did! Therefore, in her mind, I'm an illigitimate "Buckeye" fan, but she is a legitimate "Wolverine" fan. You just can't rationalize with these Michigan fans because they walk around like horse with blinders. They want to talk about the win lose numbers over the entire series, about how they had coach John Cooper's number, or how OSU lost in their last two shots at the National Championship. But at least we got there! I also think Jim Tressel gets way too conservative during the big games and there is no way in God's creation he would tell the Ohio State fans to, "Get a life!" I'm still basking in the GLORY of this great win!!! Can't wait till next year and see this all over again. Hi Duke, Chuck.

RE: The Ohio State University Smacks Down Meechigan!

I agree Jacksons, I wanted and expected more out of Mighty Meechigan! There sure was some hard hitting in the game. Especially when McGuffy got sandwiched between two Ohio State players. I could feel that hit all the way up here in Meechigan! I can't wait till tomorrow to watch "Michigan Replay" where they anaylze what happened on Saturday's game. Coach Tressel definitely has Michigan's number. The score could have been even worse had Tressel not played the 3rd. string in the 2nd. half of the 4th. Qtr. Next year we'll make it six in a row! Holy Toledo!!!!!! Chuck/Bagman.

The Ohio State University Smacks Down Meechigan!

It was a complete and total domination of the "Buckeyes" over the mighty Michigan "Wolverines!" Final score was 42 - 7 and Ohio State had 416 yds, total offense to Michigan's 198. Mighty Michigan played and fought hard, but they were totally out maned and out coached by The Ohio State "Buckeyes!" Needless to say, I am soooooo HAPPY!!! That is 5 wins in a row for the "Buckeyes" against the team up north. This game means so much for bragging rights and recruiting! Hi Duke, Bags.

RE: How can I improve fuel mileage with a Ford V-10?

I can think of three things you can do to improve your fuel economy: 1. Switch over to a good synthetic oil and use a quality oil filter like a NAPA Gold of Pure 1. 2. Get rid of your old transmission fluid and replace it with a synthetic brand like Mobil 1 or Amzoil ATF. 3. Add air tabs to your motor home, www.airtab.com. And you may have to alter the way you drive. Different driving styles can account for a 20% improvement in fuel economy. I'm driving a much larger MH than you (37'4" class A w/2 slides) and on our way back to Michigan from Arizona, we got 9.4 MPG from Winslow, AZ to Amarillo, TX and 9.3 from Amarillo, TX to Oklahoma City, OK. our class A is equipped with a 8.1 V-8 Vortec mated to a 5 speed Allison. I weigh approx. 22,000 lbs. I think if you continue to work at improving your fuel economy, you'll succeed! Good luck, Chuck.

RE: Worst Record In 129 Yr. History! (College Football)

Blue Note, Duke is NOT my friend and with respect to Michigan football, I want them to be a strong team. I don't want Ohio State to go out and beat a weak Michigan. Actually I only rooted against them (2) times this year, Toledo (my alma mater) and this Sat. at Ohio State. Obviously, you didn't read where I wrote that Brian Kelly from Central Michigan and now at Cincinnati would have been a better fit at Michigan. I don't hate Michigan, MSU, Western, Eastern, Central, Wayne State, or any other Michigan University. I was as happy as any Michigan fan when they beat Florida last year. During the Bowl season, I always root for the Big 10 school! But, you and Duke will not admit that Michigan made a big mistake when they hired Rich Rodriguez. As head coach and ranked #2, he loses to Pitt, then his assistant goes out and throttles Oaklahoma. BYW, I was rooting for WVU because my mom is from Weirton, W.Va. and I have aunts, uncles, cousins in West Virginia. West Virginia is just across the river from where I grew up and I worked over there for four years and my dad worked at Weirton Steel for 44 years. I know more about the West Virginia/Rich Rodriguez situation than either you or Duke. Actually, I think Michigan will play their best football this Saturday. Ohio State vs Michigan, Woody vs Bo (from Barberton, Ohio) is abeautiful thing. Should I start talking about all the great Michigan players that are Ohio born and raised and how Ohio produces significiently more blue chip football players than Michigan? Michigan wouldn't have such as rich football history if it wasn't for Ohio coaching and football talent! Bags.

Dukersgang, You're funny! So you're saying that Boren is a fat guy who lucked out making the All Big 10 team as offensive guard? As far as football knowledge, I'll match mine against yours any day as I din't learn it by reading sports pages. Last but not least, I can root for any team I want to and not who you determine I can. BTW, I'm not a Lions fan, but am a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. I root for the Pistons, not the Calaliers, and I root for the Tigers, not the Indians or Reds. I love the Red Wings and the only player I know at Columbus Blue Jackets is Sergi Federoff. College teams I like are Ohio State, Toledo, (who beat Michigan), Pitt, and West Virginia. There is nothing you can say here that is going to change that. I plan on taking my wife out to breakfast again this coming Sunday while wearing my Ohio State sweater, but I no longer get those nasty stares from the other patrons in the restaurant, because they have resigned themselves to loosing to the "Buckeyes"! Chuck/Bagman.

RE: Cheap Gas! $2.859 Yesterday

J.W.T., please tell me as I love to hear about the price of gas coming down. As in about an hour and a half we are leaving AZ and heading back to MI and I already know what I am going to pay at the Flying J's on our route back. The lowest price I'll pay is Oklahoma City @ $1.65 and the highest is Winslow, AZ @$2.35, with an average cost at $1.85. Hey, I'm a happy camper! Chuck.

It was an interesting race, but I was switching back and forth between the race and the Pittsburgh "Steeler" vs San Diego "Charger" NFL football game. It was a great football game. Next Saturday my eyes will be glued to the Ohio State "Buckeyes" vs Michigan "Wolverine" college football game! Bagman.

B K, just got done watching the Pittsburgh Steelers vs the San Diego Chargers game and that was one heck of a football game! Steelers win 11 - 10. First time in NFL history that a NFL game ended with a 11 - 10 score. Check it out on: foxsports.com. Bag.

I do watch "Dancing With The Stars" and find it very entertaining! We used to go to Allen Park High School games and since I've lived in the Detroit area, Allen Park has never fielded a team with a loosing record. They go to the state play-offs 90% of the time and have a tendancy to beat some schools by large margins. On many occasion, my wife and I have left at halftime. I'm personally not entertained by a 50 point blow-out! Perhaps you, but not me! Bagman.

RE: Worst Record In 129 Yr. History! (College Football)

ddaz, I really didn't forget about them, just didn't feel that I needed more information for my thread. There were several others that simply transferred to other schools besides Mallett and Boren I'm sure if Mallett stayed, Manningham and Arrington would also have stayed. I was very impressed with Mallett as a Freshman QB. MSU hired a good coach in Mark Dantonio and I firmly feel that Michigan would be better off with Brian Kelly, formly Central Mich. coach who has found success in Cincinnati! Obviously both you and I are living in Michigan and we call it like it is. It is what it is! I don't want Ohio State to beat a weak Michigan team. I want them to be a good Michigan team. BTW, my loyality to Ohio is due to that is where I grew up and I attended U. of Toledo. Didn't know anything about hockey till I moved up here, but no matter where I move to, I will always be a Red Wing fan! Regards, Chuck/Bagman.

RE: Worst Record In 129 Yr. History! (College Football)

Alabama is indeed very lucky! And to The Texan, everyone I ran into up here in Michigan told me that Pryor was in the bag! Rodriguex would have turned Pryor into a running QB out of the spread, but during the summers, Pryor attended Ohio State's football camp and knew that Tressel would let him be drop back QB. More Pro-style. I'm a little biased, but I think Terrelle Pryor made the right decision and just look where he is right now! Chuck.

Worst Record In 129 Yr. History! (College Football)

This year's Michigan will have their worst win-loss record in their 129 year history of playing college football. And it isn't because they were depleated of football talented athletes. I pretty much place the blame on those Michigan principals that hired coach Rich Rodriguez from West Virginia and coach Rich Rodriguez himself. Last year when West Virginia was ranked #2 in the BCS and only had to beat lowly Pitt to make it to the National Championship, his (Rich Rod) team gets beat by Pitt. It was a huge upset! The two main reason why WVU was winning was Steve Slaton (RB) and Pat White (QB). WVU only got Slaton because Maryland recended his scholarship and he had to find another college to attend. Guess which state borders Maryland? West Virginia. Then you have Pat White who had many scholarship offers, but they were for other positions like (WR) or (DB) and Pat wanted to play (QB). So Coach Rich Rod. lets him come to WVU on scholarship for (QB). Then Rodriguez leaves WVU on very nasty terms and had everyone believing that the #1 national recruit Terrelle Pryor was in the bag and would be playing for Michigan this year. About 1/2 dozen current Michigan quit Michigan including super frosh QB Ryan Mallett and all Big 10 guard Boren. Mallet transferred to Arkansas and Boren transferred to Ohio State. There is nothing wrong with the spread offense, but Rodriguez literally shoved it down the throats of the team he inherited and that was like shoving square pegs down round holes. He should have eased the spread in to their offensive plans. He needs to beat Ohio State and I don't see that happening as long as Terrelle Pryor is the "Buckeyes" QB! Four straight loses to Ohio State and Rodriguez is a gonner!!! JMHO, Chuck/Bagman.

B K, I started out watching the Florida/South Carolina game, but quickly lost interest as there were other games that were much more entertaining. I'm sure you enjoyed watching Florida beat the snot out of South Carolina, but for the football fans that want to see good hard fought football game, probably changed the channel like I did! I thought N D/Navy was entertaining and I was rooting for Navy. I thought Minnesota/Wisconsin was entertaining and I didn't cared who won. The Alabama/Miss. State was entertaining for the first half. Even Troy/LSU was more entertaining than the Florida game. Only die hard Florida fans enjoyed that game! JMHO, Chuck.

RE: Cheap Gas! $2.859 Yesterday

We're getting ready to head back to Michigan and this is what I'll pay for gas on the way back from at the following Flying J's: Winslow, AZ $2.39, Amarillo, TX $1.83, Oklahoma City, OK $1.67, Sullivan, MO $1.73, and Indianapolis, IN $1.78. Should we decide to stop in Beaverdam, Ohio, the price there is: $1.77. It is only going to cost us about $450.00 to drive our 37'+ class A from Scottsdale, AZ to Wyandotte, MI. That's cheap! Bagman.
